The Oklahoma Sooners have had a streak of three consecutive years producing at least one first round pick. In the last two drafts, OU saw two players drafted in the first round. This year seems like it might see an end to their streak. Can one of their top players find a way into the first round?
The two prospects that could make it into the first day both play in the trenches. On the defensive side of the ball you have Ronnie Perkins, he has been seen as a day two, or early day three prospect as of late. At one point NFL’s Daniel Jeremiah had him in the first round. According to the consensus, he is viewed as a 58th overall ranking. That puts him in round two.

On the other hand, you have center Creed Humphrey. Following the 2019 college football season, some analysts had him as a first-rounder until he chose to return to Norman for another season. Early on in the NFL draft process, he was viewed as a first-round selection. Recent mocks have him in the mid to late second round. His overall ranking sitting at 49th according to consensus boards.

However, Luke Easterling of Draft Wire claims Humphrey could very well be a party crasher on Thursday night.
Centers don’t make for exciting first-round picks, but a good one can make a huge difference for your entire offense. That’s why an experienced blocker like Humphrey could end up coming off the board in the first 32 picks. He’s got a solid balance of athleticism, physicality and intelligence, which is exactly what every team needs in the guy that anchors the offensive line and calls the shots up front.
