Can Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky build on success from last 5 games?

Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has struggled this season. But something has changed over the last month that has Trubisky playing solid.

Is Mitchell Trubisky finally turning the corner?

That’s the hope following a solid month of play from the Bears’ third-year quarterback after struggling for most of the year. In the last five games, something has changed in Trubisky. A switch has been flipped. A new, more confident quarterback has emerged in his place.

In the last five games, Trubisky has 13 touchdowns, 1,320 passing yards and a 99.7 passer rating, as well as a 4-1 record.

But when looking at Trubisky’s progress, the last two games stand out above the rest — against the Lions and Cowboys.

Trubisky led the Bears back from a 10-point deficit against the Lions on Thanksgiving, including orchestrating a nine-play, 90-yard game-winning touchdown drive. He completed 29-of-38 passes (76%) for 338 yards and three touchdowns with one interception for a 118.1 passer rating.

But somehow, Trubisky outdid himself the following Thursday against the Cowboys, where he utilized his legs and made some impressive throws as the Bears offense destroyed the Cowboys defense. Trubisky completed 23-of-31 passes (74%) for 244 yards with three touchdowns and one interception for a passer rating of 115.5. He also added 63 rushing yards on 10 carries, as well as a score.

Let’s take a look at how Trubisky has fared over the last five games — and here’s hoping that he can play like he has the last two weeks in the final three games of the season.
