Former North Carolina Tar Heels’ standout Cameron Johnson is cashing in on a big payday.
On Friday, Johnson agreed to a four-year deal worth $108 million to stay with the Brooklyn Nets according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The contract is a little higher than the projections going into this free agency period but that’s great news for Johnson who wasted no time in making a decision.
As a restricted free agent, Johnson could have signed an offer sheet allowing the Nets to match it. But in the end, the Nets get their guy and Johnson stays put with the team that traded for him last season.

After turning down a contract extension offer with Phoenix last year, Johnson bet on himself and it paid off.
He’s coming off a 2022-23 season in which he averaged 15.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Johnson is considered a core piece to the Nets rebuild after acquiring him in the Kevin Durant trade. And this deal just proves that.
