Cam Dantzler claiming ‘scary hours’ with recent jersey number change

Cam Dantzler is going back to his roots

Dalvin Cook won’t be the only player donning his college jersey number in the 2022 season. Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler also revealed he’s turning back the clock and replacing his No. 27 jersey with the same No. 3 jersey he wore at Mississippi State.

The NFL rescinding its strict jersey number policy is allowing players to wear numbers they used to be prohibited from wearing, depending on the position they played on the field.

So there have been multiple players going back to their roots to brandish the same number that got them to the NFL. Dantzler commented on social media that he’s returning to vintage form.

“Back to my old ways.. This guy was on scary hours,” Dantzler posted on Twitter.

The Vikings could use some “scary hours” after things were scary bad in the defensive backfield last season.

They allowed the fifth-most passing yards on average with opposing quarterbacks averaging 259.2 passing yards per game against them.

Dantzler has started in 17 games over the course of two seasons with 12 pass deflections, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. A third-year leap from the 23-year-old corner would be huge for the Vikings after re-signing Patrick Peterson and landing Chandon Sullivan in free agency.

But there’s still one question: If Dantzler really is switching back to No. 3, what number will punter Jordan Berry wear now?
