Caitlin Clark named a unanimous Associated Press Preseason All-American

Caitlin Clark has been recognized as an unanimous Associated Press preseason All-American as she gets ready to lead Iowa in 2023-24.

Ahead of the Iowa Hawkeyes‘ 2023-24 women’s college basketball season getting underway, there continues to be a growing sense of anticipation for Caitlin Clark’s next act.

The superstar and the face of women’s basketball took America by storm during the Hawkeyes’ stunning postseason run. Her numbers were eye-popping, record-breaking and have her among the game’s best entering this season.

As the 2023-24 women’s basketball season nears its tipoff, the Associated Press released their preseason All-American teams. Caitlin Clark was named an unanimous Associated Press preseason All-American.

Last season, Clark averaged 27.8 points, 8.6 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game. Her assists per game average was tops nationally and her points per game average trailed only Villanova’s Maddy Siegrist.

All signs point to green and it appears all systems are a go for Clark this year. Through two exhibition games, she has lit up the stat sheet and is poised to put on another great act.

In the Crossover at Kinnick, Clark put up a triple-double in front of more than 55,000 people. Caitlin Clark gave the record-setting crowd everything they wanted and more with a performance of 34 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds. In the Hawkeyes’ most recent exhibition against Clarke University, Clark posted 24 points, nine assists, and four rebounds while playing in roughly half of the game.

The Hawkeyes get their season underway officially on Nov. 6 when they welcome Fairleigh Dickinson University in to Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
