F Dylan Williamson led all Tigers with 15 points, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line as well as draining 3 of 5 from 3. Senior F Charles Thompson, who has the most wins in program history, missed the entire 1st half but finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Seahawks earned a double-bye in the CAA Tournament in their last game, defeating these same Tigers 75-64 March 2. Towson also was going for the coveted double-bye, but it was UNCW who cashed as a 3.5-point favorite. I expect the Seahawks (-155) to prevail, but it would not be a shocker if Towson, who has won 8 of the last 10 meetings, came away with the win.

Against the spread

Towson coach Pat Skerry has plenty of experience with this program, as the 54-year-old has been the coach of the Tigers since 2011. Skerry is in search of his 3rd straight 20-win season despite losing last year’s leading scorer G Nicholas Timberlake in the transfer portal to Kansas.

Skerry called a critical timeout in the 2nd half of Saturday’s game vs. William & Mary, which led to 20 unanswered points as the Tigers pulled away and advanced. Expect the veteran coach to keep his team in it against this UNCW squad.

UNCW averages 80.2 points per game (PPG), good for 2nd-highest in the conference behind only Charleston (81 PPG).
