Bulls should target Kristaps Porzingis amid Wizards rebuild rumors

If the Washington Wizards hit the reset button, the Chicago Bulls could look to target Kristaps Porzingis.

If the Chicago Bulls hope to stay relevant in the NBA, they need to make some changes this summer. The current roster is destined for mediocrity. Their last two seasons ended in a first-round exit and an elimination in the play-in tournament.

According to Josh Robbins of The Athletic, “many rival executives” around the league expect the Washington Wizards to undergo a full rebuild in the near future. That could benefit the Bulls and their need to add talent. Ryan Duaterive of Sports Mockery thinks Chicago should look to trade for Wizards big man Kristaps Porzingis in an attempt to reshape the roster.

Duaterive believes the Bulls would be better off moving on from Nikola Vucevic and looking in a younger direction, which Porzingis would provide. He’s still in the prime of his career at 27 years old.

“Chicago has a big decision on their hands as to who will man the middle next season and beyond,” Duaterive wrote. “Currently an unrestricted free agent, Nikola Vucevic has held down the paint for the last several seasons and has made it known that he will be exploring all options. The Bulls have expressed interest in returning the former two-time All-Star selection but would be wise to look for a younger and more talented option in Porzingis.”

Porzingis just wrapped up a very successful campaign with the Wizards in which he refound the scoring and shooting touch that made him a star.

Adding him to the rotation would be a nice boost for the Bulls and could give them the shake-up they so desperately need.
