Buffalo Bills training camp preview: Tight end

2020 Buffalo Bills training camp preview: tight ends

Is there any room for Jason Croom?

Croom and Nate Becker are on the outside looking in. Croom was an important target during Josh Allen’s rookie season. Ultimately, Croom pushed veteran Charles Clay for playing time. He caught 22 passes in 2018, good for fifth on the team. That gave some folks optimism about him. But then injury hit Buffalo’s tight end room again.

Croom missed all of last season with a hamstring injury. The challenge: Can he push Sweeney for a spot at the bottom of the depth chart? Croom is a more dynamic receiver. However, Sweeney blocks well and does enough in the receiving game to be a depth option for the Bills.

A longshot scenario, but Croom could also push Kroft for a spot. Kroft’s contract was restructured, making 2020 the final year of the deal. If Kroft has injury issues or the Bills wish to look for better value from a depth player, they could look to Croom.
