Bucs RB Giovani Bernard designated for return from injured reserve

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Giovani Bernard has been designated for return from injured reserve

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were hoping to use their bye week to get healthier, and one veteran on offense appears to be doing just that.

Running back Giovani Bernard has been designated for return from injured reserve, the team announced Monday.

This move opens up a 21-day window during which Bernard can return to practice, and be moved to the active roster at any point.

Bernard suffered an ankle injury during Tampa Bay’s Week 2 win over the New Orleans Saints, after which he was placed on injured reserve, and has been out ever since.

Rookie Rachaad White enjoyed a breakout performance in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks, but with Leonard Fournette nursing a hip injury, Bernard’s return would give the Bucs some experienced depth in the backfield as they hit the homestretch of the regular season.
