Bucs officially announce Greg Gaines signing

Details of Gaines’ previously-undisclosed contract have been released as well.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are officially getting some d-line depth.

While DT [autotag]Greg Gaines[/autotag]’ signing was reported early in free agency, the team officially announced the acquisition on Thursday. Not only did the signing become official, but there were also more contract details revealed as a result.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Gaines’ deal is worth $3.5 million with a max value of $4 million, though the incentives or roster bonuses that make up this deal are currently unknown. Gaines’ contract details were not initially disclosed, so now there’s a definitive number on the deal that brings him to Tampa Bay.

Gaines will be crucial to the Bucs’ defensive line depth, as the team has already lost Rakeem Nunez-Roches in free agency and could lose more players as the offseason continues. Gaines will also be familiar with some of his new teammates — he’s already played alongside Vita Vea and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka when he played college football at Washington.
