Bucs free agent Mike Edwards signs with Chiefs

Edwards has had three pick-sixes in the last two years as a Buc.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are losing one of their most productive free agents.

The team will not bring safety [autotag]Mike Edwards[/autotag] back to Tampa Bay, as he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday. Edwards will get a one-year deal worth $3 million that can reach up to $5 million in incentives.

Edwards has produced in his time with the Bucs, netting nine interceptions in four years (including playoffs) and 149 tackles. Interestingly enough, he’s had three pick-sixes in the two years, so he’s had a knack for finding the endzone more than other defensive players seem to do so throughout his tenure in Tampa Bay.

With Edwards gone and both Logan Ryan and Keanu Neal possibly leaving as free agents, the Bucs will likely have to turn to the NFL draft to fill that position as they head into the 2023 season.
