The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced two roster moves ahead of their Week 3 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
The Bucs are set to elevate linebacker J.J. Russell and defensive tackle Deadrin Senat to the team’s active roster ahead of the matchup. The moves like correspond with LB SirVocea Dennis and DT Calijah Kancey being listed as out on Saturday’s injury report and could serve as insurance for their absence.
Russell, who was signed to Tampa Bay’s practice squad at the end of the preseason after a series of strong performances, has already been elevated once before in Week 2 versus the Bears. Per NFL rules, he can only be elevated to the active roster one more time this year before he has to be either signed to the 53-man roster or must be cut and pass through waivers before being able to be elevated again.
Senat was on Tampa Bay’s practice squad last year, and he made a return earlier in the month when running back Chase Edmonds was placed on Injured Reserve, allowing DT Pat O’Connor to be elevated to the 53-man roster. How long he stays with the Bucs is unclear, but he has been called up for tonight’s matchup.
