Bucs agree to trade CB Carlton Davis III to the Lions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trading cornerback Carlton Davis III to the Detroit Lions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trading cornerback Carlton Davis III to the Detroit Lions, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Tampa Bay is getting the Lions’ third-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, while Detroit gets a sixth-rounder in each of the next two drafts along with Davis, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Davis has been a quality starter for the Bucs when healthy, but has missed 16 games over the past three seasons due to injury. He was set to make $14.5 million this season in the final year of his current contract, and he fills the biggest need for the Lions on defense.

This move will allow the Bucs to save more salary cap space, while hopefully finding a cheaper replacement for Davis who will be able to make more splash plays, as well as stay on the field more often.
