Former Virginia Cavaliers forward Mamadi Diakite signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, according to the official NBA player transactions page.

Diakite emerged as one of the top seniors in the country last season and was named to the All-ACC Second Team after averaging 13.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. He was also named to the All-ACC Defensive Team and helped Virginia to the top-rated defense in the NCAA.

The 23-year-old projects to be a solid role player at the next level and, with additional development in the NBA G League with the Wisconsin Herd, can potentially become a regular member of the rotation given his ability on the defensive end of the floor.

Diakite, who twice won the high jump championship in high school in Virginia, will spend the majority of the 2020-21 season with the Herd. However, given the uncertainty surrounding the G League season, Diakite may spend the season with the Bucks instead.
