Buccaneers say top WRs Mike Evans, Chris Godwin won’t return vs. Saints; neither will RB Leonard Fournette

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that neither of their two best wide receivers will return during Sunday night’s game with the New Orleans Saints, having initially declared Chris Godwin questionable to come back from a knee injury while Mike Evans was doubtful with a hamstring issue.

Evans was seen throwing his gloves to a fan in the stands at Raymond James Stadium in his walk to the locker room at halftime, which wasn’t a good sign. Godwin tried to jog on the sidelines after a low tackle from Saints defensive back P.J. Williams but the team chose to shut him down. Additionally, Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette was later ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Tampa Bay was already without Antonio Brown, who was serving a three-game suspension for falsifying COVID-19 vaccine documentation earlier this season. That left backups Tyler Johnson and Scottie Miller on top of the depth chart, and Tom Brady in a tough spot. Let’s hope they all are okay, but Brady won’t get any sympathy given how New Orleans’ receivers have performed this year.
