The 2020 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada, welcomes a strong field as many of the world’s best golfers return to play for the first time since the U.S. Open. The field includes eight of the top 15 golfers from Golfweek/Sagarin‘s world rankings. 30. Francesco Molinari (+15000)
Playing professionally for the first time since the WGC-Mexico Championship in February. Missed the cut in three of four PGA Tour events early in 2020.
29. Rory Sabbatini (+12500)
Coming off an excellent short-game performance at the Sanderson Farms Championship with 1.64 Strokes Gained: Putting and 0.96 SG: Around-the-Green per round, according to Data Golf.
28. J.B. Holmes (+22500)
Sneakily ranked 24th in the Golfweek rankings. Has played sparingly since the Tour’s mid-June return but collected three straight top-20 finishes in strong events before the break.
27. MJ Daffue (+17500)
Led last week’s considerably weaker field with 1.96 SG: Approach per round and ranked fourth with 2.62 SG: Tee-to-Green.
26. Adam Hadwin (+12500)
A fourth-place finisher last year who has averaged 1.57 strokes gained per round across 14 laps of TPC Summerlin.
25. Si Woo Kim (+8000)
Rebounded from a missed cut at the U.S. Open to finish T-37 last week. Has just one missed cut in his last 12 events.
24. Brandt Snedeker (+9000)
Snapped a skid of three straight losses with a T-17 finish last week. Relied on his regular strengths in the short game and with the putter.
23. Joaquin Niemann (+6000)
Finished 10th in 2018 but missed the cut last year shortly after his win at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. Good ball striker and just needs to be average with the flat stick.
22. Cameron Smith (+8000)
Has made six straight cuts and finished T-59 at the no-cut WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Finished 10th here in 2016.
21. Matt Kuchar (+9000)
Missed the cut at both 2020 majors to date and has been out of form since a win at the Asian Tour’s SMBC Singapore Open and a runner-up at the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational. Finished second and seventh in this event in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
20. Cameron Davis (+5000)
Tied for sixth last week while gaining strokes across the board. Comes in with six straight made cuts after missing four in a row out of the restart.
19. Doc Redman (+8000)
Two T-3 finishes in his last four events but coming off a T-28 result in the weaker field last week. Finished 42nd in his debut at this event last year.
18. J.T. Poston (+8000)
Has one fourth-place finish and three missed cuts at TPC Summerlin but finished third with 2.12 SG: Putting per round last week.
17. Rickie Fowler (+3300)
Ranks third in the field among those with at least 10 rounds played at TPC Summerlin with an average of 1.79 strokes gained over his 16 rounds. Tied for 15th at the WGC event but has a missed cut and two T-49s since.
16. Sergio Garcia (+4000)
Last week’s winner at the Sanderson Farms Championship will make his debut in Las Vegas. He led last week’s field with 3.01 SG: Tee-to-Green per round.
15. Paul Casey (+4000)
Had T-2 and T-17 finishes at the PGA Championship and U.S. Open, respectively. Is one of the world’s top players making their debut at TPC Summerlin this week with the Masters just over one month away.
14. Louis Oosthuizen (+4000)
Finished third at the U.S. Open and has made the cut in eight of nine events since the mid-June restart with a T-6 at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
13. Abraham Ancer (+5000)
Missed the cut in 2017 and 2019 on either side of a fourth-place showing in 2018. Needs a good short-game performance.
12. Harris English (+2500)
The best golfer in attendance by the Golfweek rankings at No. 5 in the world. Has only one missed cut through 15 events in 2020 with a runner-up and two other top 10s.
11. Kevin Na (+5500)
Last year’s champion in a playoff over Patrick Cantlay. He averaged a field-best 3.54 SG: Putting per round but lost 0.21 strokes off-the-tee and 0.14 around-the-green.
10. Jason Day (+3500)
Finished fourth in 2012 but hasn’t played this event since. Ranked first on Tour in SG: Around-the-Green last season.
9. Tony Finau (+2000)
Made the cut here each of the last six years with two top-10 finishes. Has averaged 1.49 strokes gained over 24 rounds at TPC Summerlin.
8. Sungjae Im (+3500)
Finished a disappointing T-28 last week as one of the pre-tournament betting favorites. That result and the stronger field this week have inflated his odds to a more appealing number. He finished 15th here in 2018.
7. Collin Morikawa (+2000)
The 2020 PGA Championship winner will tee it up for the first time since a missed cut at the U.S. Open. He finished just 42nd in his debut last year.
6. Scottie Scheffler (+3000)
Returned to play last week and finished T-37 in his first event since the Tour Championship due to a positive COVID-19 test. The early return could allow him to get a jump on this week’s other top contenders.
5. Matthew Wolff (+2500)
Tied for 18th last year with 1.22 SG: Off-the-Tee. The forgiving fairways and few trouble areas will allow him to maximize his distance advantage.
4. Hideki Matsuyama (+2200)
Ranks fifth in the field with 1.81 strokes gained over eight rounds at TPC Summerlin. Has three straight top-20 finishes in strong fields through the FedEx Cup Playoffs and U.S. Open.
3. Webb Simpson (+1200)
Last season’s PGA Tour leader in both Birdie or Better Percentage and Bogey Avoidance. He won this event in 2013 and has three other top 10s at TPC Summerlin.
2. Patrick Cantlay (+1800)
Won in 2017 and finished as the runner-up each of the last two years. Leads the field with 3.18 strokes gained per round at this venue.
1. Bryson DeChambeau (+700)
The reigning U.S. Open champ won here in 2018. He followed it up with a fourth-place finish last year and his increased length will be a big advantage with little penalty for missing fairways.
