A smiling Bryson DeChambeau, with his right hand giving a thumbs up and his left arm in a black sling, confirmed that he had “successful left wrist surgery on my fractured hook of the hamate” Thursday.
DeChambeau has been battling injuries for most of 2022. Prior to the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in March, he revealed that he suffered a fractured hamate bone in his left hand as well as a torn labrum in his left hip.
In an Instragram post, DeChambeau said the wrist surgery was “performed by world renowned Hand Surgeon Dr. Thomas Graham. I want to thank Dr. Graham and the incredible staff and The Kettering Medical Center in Ohio.”

DeChambeau shot 76-80 at the 2022 Masters. His second-round score was his highest ever in a major championship.
In his post, he acknowledged that playing through the injury “has caused me to alter my grip and swing, resulting in my inability to compete at golf’s highest level.”
DeChambeau was originally committed to compete in this week’s Professional Long Drivers Association event in Florida. It was Bobby Peterson, one of the owners of the PLDA, who confirmed that DeChambeau withdrew from the event because of the surgery.
DeChambeau said that he will take the “appropriate time needed to rest and recover” but didn’t give any indication of how many weeks he expects to be out.

- Mexico Open at Vidanta (April 28 to May 1)
- Wells Fargo Championship (May 5-8)
- AT&T Bryon Nelson (May 12-15)
The PGA Championship (May 19-22) will be at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
