Bryce Young talks about driving for DoorDash at Alabama

Panthers rookie QB Bryce Young confirmed that he drove for DoorDash while at the University of Alabama.

Thanks to wide receiver DJ Chark, we learned that Bryce Young was driving more than just the offense when he attended the University of Alabama.

Following a finely-tuned performance in practice on Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback was asked about his DoorDash days. And Young, who briefly drove for the online food and delivery service, confirmed the cat that Chark let out of the bag this past weekend.

“I did that for a while—kinda from when I got there and got my feet on the ground,” he replied. “Yes, I was driving for DoorDash. Honestly, I would have a mask on and a hoodie, and then I would only really accept the ‘drop it at my door’ orders. So, for the most part, I never really got recognized or anything. But, yeah, this was before NIL. So I just wanted to have a little extra money.”

Young arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2020, during the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. It wouldn’t be until 2021, when previous starter Mac Jones was gone for the NFL, that Young took the wheel for Alabama.

He wound up taking the Crimson Tide for a pretty good ride—picking up an SEC championship, a Heisman Trophy and probably quite a bit of barbecue on the way.
