The Carolina Panthers are not well, and it feels like there’s no remedy for it.
Quarterback Bryce Young spoke with reporters following Sunday’s 28-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints—their sixth straight defeat and their 12th in 13 games this season. And despite the team’s hopes of being more aggressive in Week 14, their approach in the bayou did not yield different results.
“We just wanna be aggressive,” Young said of the offense’s mindset. “It was kinda a reaction of a little bit of how they were playin’ us too. And be able to take what the defense gives us.”
Well, the defense didn’t give them much—at least in the box score.
Young, who did attempt more downfield shots this time around, completed a season-low 36.1 percent of his passes for 137 yards. Perhaps the only bright spot of his day came when his first-quarter interception was overruled as a fumble—so he still hasn’t tossed picks in consecutive games this year.
But that, obviously, doesn’t carry any weight, especially for the 1-12 Panthers.
“We’re all sick of it, we’re all tired of it,” Young said of the results. “But that doesn’t entitle us to anything. It’s on us, ultimately, why we’re there. And we have to do a better job to prevent that. So no matter how tired we are, we gotta be better.”
