Bryce Young does not participate in Wednesday’s walk-through due to ankle injury

Panthers QB Bryce Young was listed as a non-participant for Wednesday’s walk-through due to an ankle injury.

The Carolina Panthers’ short week is off to a bit of an alarming start.

Coming off Monday night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints, the team held a walk-through rather than a traditional practice. And on the initial (and projected) injury report for their Week 3 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks sits a handful of big names.

The biggest is quarterback Bryce Young, who did not participate due to an ankle injury. Save for one official snap, the rookie played through the entirety of the prime-time defeat—completing 22 of his 33 passing attempts for 153 yards and a touchdown.

Per Darin Gantt of Panthers.com, in perhaps a measure of insurance, the team has added quarterback Jake Luton to their practice squad. Head coach Frank Reich, who did not provide any detail into Young’s injury, told reporters that adding a third quarterback was always the plan.

Also on the report is outside linebacker Brian Burns. The two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher, who is also noted with an ankle injury, was a limited participant.
