Bryan Harsin included on latest hot seat list

Bryan Harsin is entering his second season at Auburn with something to prove.

There is plenty of doubt surrounding [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and Auburn football entering the second year of his tenure.

That doubt has caused Harsin to appear on seemingly every hot seat list published since the end of the 2021 season. That trend continued Tuesday when Ralph D. Russo of the Associated Press put Harsin on his list of six coaches entering the 2022 season who need to turn things around.

Here is what Russo said about Harsin and Auburn:

The attempt to oust Harsin after one season with what ended up looking like a bogus review of the program last winter was peak Auburn dysfunction. He is still here, and there are reasons to believe the former Boise State coach might not be the best fit for this job. Auburn currently has the 67th-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2023.

The athletic director who hired Harsin, Allen Greene, is also currently without a long-term contract. None of the signs look good for Harsin, but this is Auburn so don’t discount the Tigers going 8-4 and making things even more complicated.

When you combine Auburn’s disappointing recruiting ranking with the fact that the Tigers lost the last five games of the 2021 season, it is understandable why there are questions about Harsin’s future.

Harsin will look to quiet the doubters on Sept. 3 when the Tigers host Mercer to start the season.
