Bruce Brown should be near top of Nets priority list in free agency

The Brooklyn Nets need to re-sign Bruce Brown as he is an important piece going forward.

The Brooklyn Nets have a lot of big decisions to make, after an eventful season. None is more important than Bruce Brown who does a little bit of everything for the Nets out on the floor.

Obviously, taking care of Kyrie Irving is more important to re-sign as far as his talent level, but Brown rose to the occasion in the playoff series against the Boston Celtics. At times, Brown was their best player and impacted the game in just about every facet. He hit big shots, he had a huge impact defensively, and he even added some assists and offensive rebounds.

Brown enjoyed a breakout season as he shot 40.4% from deep–albeit on only 1.3 attempts–and he shot 50.6% from the floor to average 9.0 points during the regular season. He then averaged 14.0 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 42.9% from deep on 3.5 attempts in the playoffs against the Celtics.

Finding great role players is hard in this league, especially ones who don’t shrink in the playoffs. One can see a very similar impact to the game that Derrick White has brought to the Celtics. White brings a scoring boost, but he also does a little bit of everything and plays great defense.

The importance of White cannot be understated for the Celtics, and the same must be said for Brown. The Nets need to make it a priority to re-sign him, if they want to be present, in the next title race.
