Browns voluntary activities start today, what to expect

Browns descend on Berea Monday for Phase One of offseason activities. Mayfield could show up but unlikely. What will happen:

The Cleveland Browns take their next step toward the 2022 season with the opening of voluntary activities Monday. The team has had a roller coaster offseason with the acquisition of Deshaun Watson and expected departure of Baker Mayfield.

The 2021 season did not follow up the playoff campaign from 2020 in the way the team wanted. Injuries and COVID was a majority of the problem for the team’s poor performance.

Voluntary activities are a chance to start the process of redefining the team. While Mayfield could attend, it is unlikely that he would. If he does, the story will, somehow, ramp up.

Phase one is very limited. Coaches and training staff can meet with the players, do physical training with the players and rehab can continue for injured players. No activities on the field are allowed for the first two weeks of the offseason program.

That can begin in Phase two.

For now, there may not be a lot of information coming out from Monday’s events unless Mayfield appears, there is contract updates or an injury.

The 2022 season isn’t too far away and Monday is the first step in the right direction.
