Browns unlikely to see Jets QB Aaron Rodgers in Week 17, per report

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is reportedly a long-shot to play this season after he tore his Achilles in Week 1.

It doesn’t sound as though New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will suit up this season, which means the Cleveland Browns won’t face him in Week 17.

Rodgers, who suffered an Achilles tear in Week 1, has insinuated for some time that he wanted to return by Week 16. The Jets even opened up the 21-day practice window for Rodgers this past week. But like New York’s playoff chances, Rodgers is reportedly a long-shot to see on-field action in 2023, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

With Rodgers likely out, Cleveland will face either current Jets starting quarterback Tim Boyle or Zach Wilson. Backup quarterback Trevor Siemian is also a possibility.

Week 17 could be a huge match for the Browns, who are very much in the playoff hunt. But that game is still a month away. A lot can change between now and then.
