The Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs met Sunday for a Week 1 rematch of last season’s AFC Divisional Round game. That game, as you might remember, saw Patrick Mahomes sustain a concussion, and Mahomes’ mother would even go as far as to call Browns linebacker Mack Wilson “evil” on Twitter.
So, it should come as no surprise that the Chiefs were on the lookout for any extracurricular antics from the Browns. We saw that in the first quarter.
After a short pass to Clyde Edwards-Helaire for a first down, the Chiefs running back was tackled near the sideline with safety Ronnie Harrison around him. It appeared that Harrison’s cleat was on Edwards-Helaire’s chest (though intent wasn’t clear), so Chiefs running backs coach Greg Lewis intervened to push Harrison off of Edwards-Helaire.

Harrison didn’t appreciate that and responded by shoving Lewis.
At first, there was plenty of confusion over what went down. The officials initially called the unsportsmanlike penalty on Lewis and the Chiefs bench. But after further discussion (and either a call from New York or a glance at the videoboard), the officiating crew decided to call a penalty and eject Harrison from the game.

While Lewis did push Harrison first, he was allowed to stay on the sidelines. The Chiefs would settle for a field goal on the drive.
