Browns’ playoff odds jump 10 percent after injury to Joe Burrow

The Browns saw their playoff odds jump after the injury to a rival quarterback.

The playoff chances of the Cleveland Browns have been up and down all week since they defeated the Baltimore Ravens. They sat above 80 percent after the win over the Ravens, then fell to 63 percent after the injury to quarterback Deshaun Watson. And now, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index, those chances are back up to 73 percent after the loss of the Cincinnati Bengals and the season-ending injury of their quarterback Joe Burrow.

If the Browns find a way to sneak out another win with rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they could solidly lock themselves into the driver’s seat toward getting into the postseason. Despite a season full of injuries to key players such as running back Nick Chubb, right tackle Jack Conklin, and now Watson, head coach Kevin Stefanski has the Browns in a position to compete every week.

If they keep this up, Stefanski may not only find his team back in the playoffs but could find a second NFL Coach of the Year Award in his trophy case.
