The good news: Browns cornerback Kevin Johnson has been released from University Hospital. His lacerated liver is deemed healthy enough for the team’s presumptive slot corner to return home.
The bad news: The Browns have listed Johnson’s status as “week-to-week”, and it’s unclear when, or even if, one of the standouts from the first week of training camp will be back on the field.
Johnson suffered the laceration in a collision in Wednesday’s practice and was admitted to the hospital for further testing and evaluation. The free agent from Buffalo had been playing very well in the early parts of training camp, earning ample praise and allowing Browns fans to feel more confident about the overhauled secondary.
The team expects Johnson to rejoin his teammates in a few days. Johnson must also pass the COVID-19 testing protocols once again before returning to Berea.
