Browns bring OT Joe Haeg in for a visit

Carson Wentz’s college teammate and now former Steeler was in for a visit today. Slightly surprising given the team’s depth on the offensive line:

As we have harped on since the Cleveland Browns initial 53-man roster came out, GM Andrew Berry is continually looking to upgrade the roster. Throughout the year, the Browns will bring players into Berea to either visit with them, have them do a workout and/or have them complete a physical.

Looking to fill the third tight end role on the team, Cleveland had Jesse James in for a workout to see if he would be a good fit.

Friday, it was an offensive tackle that took a visit to Berea. OT Joe Haeg was noted as a visit not a tryout on the NFL’s official transaction list.

Haeg got attention as a college teammate of QB Carson Wentz at North Dakota State. The 6’6″ tackle was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts. After four season and 35 starts with the Colts, Haeg played one year in Tampa Bay and another in Pittsburgh.

Yesterday, Haeg took a visit with the Las Vegas Raiders but left without a contract offer.

The Browns are quite deep on the offensive line with 10 players on the active roster. It is possible Berry is looking at Haeg to add to the practice squad where Alex Taylor is the only tackle and Brock Hoffman is the only other offensive lineman.
