With the 2021 NBA postseason rapidly approaching, two playoff contenders in the Eastern Conference received the rare honor of making the cover of “The New Yorker.”
The issue touches on hoop dreams in New York and how both the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets are competing for wins in a treacherous Eastern Conference, with both franchises desperate to win a championship.

RJ Barrett and Julius Randle also made the cover, but they are portrayed as figures running after Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving (who is depicted to be dribbling the ball). One of the most anticipated games left in the regular season is the eventual return of James Harden, who has not played since April 5th.
When he returns, Brooklyn’s Big 3 will finally be back playing together once again, and the hype surrounding the Nets and Knicks will be on another level.
