After weeks of Ben Simmons turning Brooklyn into his home, the Brooklyn Net is finally set to start rehab on his back following surgery.
The New York Post reported that Simmons had moved from recovery to now rehab. A source confirms that Simmons’s start of rehab puts him on track to be ready before training camp, which is great news for Brooklyn’s front office.
Simmons suffered a herniated disc in his lower spine back in early 2020. The young talent hadn’t played a single game all season, neither for the Nets or the Philadelphia 76ers, from where he was acquired.
Early in May, reports came out that Simmons had successful surgery on his back at Cedars-Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Neel Anand, the director of spine trauma at the hospital, talks positively about Simmons’ ability to get back on the court speedily.
Per Brian Lewis of The New York Post:
“Microdiscectomy is probably one of the best procedures we do. Most patients recover really fast,” Dr. Anand continued. “Ten days to six weeks, rehabbing. Six weeks to three months, pretty much getting back to the field. And then three months I’d say most athletes will be back on the field, back doing everything.”
