With the NBA preseason at an end, the Brooklyn Nets now have to trim their roster down to just 17 athletes and it seems that they’ve committed to developing young talents Day’Ron Sharpe and Cam Thomas.
Nets insider Brian Lewis of The New York Post reports that the Nets are picking up team options for both Sharpe and Thomas.
The organization ended the preseason with a pair of wins and in their final game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, both Sharpe and Thomas performed well. Sharpe finished with an impressive double-double, logging 15 points, and 13 boards. Thomas ended with a subtle 11 points but shot an efficient 40 percent from the field.
Thomas had an incredible offseason for the Nets in the summer league, making a case for his talents early. He will absolutely get important role-player minutes just as he did last year in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Expect to see the Nets waive more players as the roster needs to be cut down.
The #Nets have exercised the 2023-24 team options on the contracts of Day'Ron Sharpe and Cam Thomas.
