Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Brooklyn Nets (37-17) travel to the City of Brotherly Love Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ET game with the Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia 76ers (37-17) at Wells Fargo Center. Below, we analyze the Nets-76ers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Nets have won three of four games and seven of their last nine while going 3-6 against the spread with the latest being a 127-97 beatdown of the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday.

Philly won three parts of a four-game road swing and went 3-1 against the spread entering Wednesday. All three wins were by double digits, including a 113-95 win over Dallas Mavericks Monday. The Sixers are 5-2 overall and 4-3 ATS over the last two weeks.

The home team won and covered each of the earlier two Nets-76ers games this season. Brooklyn’s 122-109 win over Philly Jan. 7, was before the Nets acquired G James Harden and All-Stars SF Kevin Durant and PG Kyrie Irving both missed the game.

In Philly’s 124-108 victory against Brooklyn in February, Harden was the only one of the Nets’ Big 3 who played.

Nets at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 117, Nets 113

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Nets (+230) since I’m betting Brooklyn plus the points here and often will sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when taking them to cover.

What’s holding me back is the obvious: Brooklyn could be without two of its Big 3 and this is a matchup between the two teams tied atop the Eastern Conference.

This game matters for bragging rights, possible playoff seeding, and/or who gets homecourt advantage throughout the postseason. Since the Sixers are much healthier, I’m going to stick to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

TAKE the NETS +7 (-110) for 1 unit.

The Nets get up for big games: Brooklyn is 12-4 and has the second-best points per 100 possessions differential and the fourth-best ATS margin against teams in the top-10 in net efficiency, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Also, the Nets are 9-3 ATS when spotted 1-7 points and 7-3 ATS vs. teams with a winning record.

With KD back in the fold and looking like his dominant self, there’s no way it’s plus-EV to bet against Brooklyn.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 226.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit because both teams should have success on offense, but my hesitation is the current five-game Under streak the Sixers are on.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Philly takes the fourth-highest volume of mid-range field goals and Brooklyn is 26th in defensive field-goal percentage on mid-range attempts.

Also, the gravitational pull of KD’s skillset naturally will get spot-up shooters like SG Joe Harris wide-open looks and Brooklyn C Nicolas Claxton is making his first career start against the best center in the East.
