Bronny James’ teammates have high praise for his confidence during his spectacular USC return

Bronny James is unsurprisingly living up to the hype as he continues his spectacular return to USC basketball.

USC Trojans guard Bronny James is living up to his surname. The freshman phenom invokes shades of his dad, Lebron James, as he finds his stride.

College hoops fans knew Bronny James had impressive chops from his days at Sierra Canyon School, where he was a four-star recruit and a McDonald’s All-American. They looked forward to him wrecking college courts with speed, patience and vision.

But, in the summer of 2023, the only thing that mattered was Bronny’s health. James went into cardiac arrest during a July workout, a scary scene for all involved. Thankfully, he fully recovered, and in December of 2023, he made his collegiate debut with his dad by his side.

Now, Bronny is finding his way back to form. During a recent game against Cal, his stellar efforts off the bench elevated USC to a Pac-12 conference win and the season’s first home victory.

His teammates are even noticing that James is showing why he was a highly coveted recruit. Per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, guard Kobe Johnson had tons of praise for Bronny:

“He’s starting to be more confident as a player,” said junior guard Kobe Johnson, who had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. “And he’s starting to play his game.”

“When he first got back, he was on a [tighter] minutes restriction and he [was] kind of antsy about what to do. But now he’s starting to get into his groove and starting to become the player that everybody knows he is.”
