Broncos WR KJ Hamler models game after DeSean Jackson

The Broncos might have landed their own version of DeSean Jackson in KJ Hamler.

Broncos new wide receiver KJ Hamler (5-9, 176 pounds) has similar measurables and a similar playing style to Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson (5-10, 175 pounds). Perhaps most notably for Denver, he has similar speed, too.

Jackson ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the combine in 2008 and Hamler has been clocked running 4.3 40-yard dashes. If he’s as explosive for the Broncos as Jackson has been in his career, Hamler will become a star in Denver.

“DeSean Jackson is the main guy I play like,” Hamler said during a conference call with reporters on April 24. “I’ve been hearing that since I was younger. He’s my favorite player. Him and Steve Smith are the people I look up to.

“From a playmaking ability, from taking a slant 60 yards for a touchdown and stuff like that, I think me and DeSean are very similar. DeSean Jackson is my favorite player.”

In 12 seasons, Jackson has totaled 10,420 receiving yards and 55 touchdowns, 447 rushing yards and four touchdowns and 1,313 punt return yards and four touchdowns. The Broncos would love to get that kind of production out of Hamler over the next decade.
