After multiple neck surgeries, Peyton Manning was let go by the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 and became one of the highest-profile free agents in NFL history. After meeting with several teams, Manning decided to sign a five-year, $96 million contract with the Denver Broncos.
It seems safe to say that he made the right decision.
The Broncos won the AFC West in all four seasons Manning played in Denver, posting a 50-14 win-loss record during that time. Manning helped the Broncos reach two Super Bowls, winning one of them.
Manning retired following the 2015 season as the only starting QB to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. Before landing in Denver, he previously won a championship with Indianapolis.
Manning, 43, is now being courted by ESPN. The network is willing to pay Manning up to $20 million per year to serve as a commentator for “Monday Night Football.” He made $19 million in his final season with the Broncos.
