After signing a four-year, $44 million contract with the Denver Broncos during free agency, Graham Glasgow is expected to serve as the team’s right guard this season. Glasgow also has experience at center but third-round draft pick Lloyd Cushenberry is expected to fill that role.
“Graham Glasgow, he is a solid football player and he’s been very, very productive,” offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said during a Zoom conference call with reporters on June 11. “I’ve watched him play throughout his career and obviously, my years in Minnesota watching him. When he was available and he decided he wanted to come here, we were thrilled.”
Because of his versatility, Glasgow can give Denver depth at multiple positions on the offensive line. If the team’s starting center is injured, Glasgow could slide over to the middle with a backup (perhaps Elijah Wilkinson) filling in at right guard.
“He’s an interior player that has done an outstanding job,” Shurmur said. “When you can bring a guy that’s done it very well for a very long time and add him to your lineup, I think that’ll be helpful.
“That experience there will help us, along with the fact that he’s an outstanding pass blocker as well as a run blocker.”
Glasgow spent the first four years of his career with the Detroit Lions. He has been penalized 16 times and has allowed 8.25 sacks in 62 career games, according to STATS LLC. Glasgow will turn 28 on July 19.
