Broncos seek interview with Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett

The Broncos want to interview Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett for the team’s vacant head-coaching job.

Interest is heating up in Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

The Denver Broncos, who fired coach Vic Fangio after a 7-10 finish in 2021, are seeking permission to interview Hackett for the team’s now vacant head-coaching job, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have already arranged an interview with Hackett, who will meet with the team this week when the Packers are off.

Hackett’s offensive mind and experience working with Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers make him an attractive candidate, especially for teams like the Broncos who need to improve at the quarterback position. He’s been LaFleur’s offensive coordinator for the last three seasons.

The Broncos are blessed with talented players at all the skill positions, but struggles at the quarterback position have weighed down the team in recent years. Hackett could bring in LaFleur’s offense and a new quarterback and potentially get Denver’s operation pointed in the right direction.

LaFleur isn’t at all surprised by the interest in Hackett so far in the process.

“Yeah, I would anticipate more interest in Nathaniel if teams are doing their homework,” LaFleur said. “I know if I was leading the search, he would be high on my list.”

Hackett interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons last year.
