Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at first-year offensive lineman Will Sherman, No. 78.

Before the Broncos: Sherman (6-4, 300 pounds) played high school football with quarterback Kyler Murray in Allen, Texas before later playing college football for the Colorado Buffaloes. Sherman started 21 games at right tackle and six games at left tackle in college. He earned second-team all-conference honors twice in college.

Sherman was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft. After spending his rookie season on New England’s practice squad, Sherman was waived by the Patriots ahead of the 2022 season.

Broncos tenure: Denver signed Sherman to its practice squad last September. He was promoted to the active roster late in the season, but he did not appear in any games. Sherman is entering his third offseason in the NFL but he is considered a first-year player due to the league’s accrued season rules.

Chance to make the 53-man roster: Sherman will face long odds to make the active roster this summer, but he could be a strong candidate for the team’s practice squad.
