Broncos roster series: No. 13, WR Phillip Dorsett

After spending most of last season on the practice squad, Phillip Dorsett will attempt to win a spot on the active roster this summer.

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at tenth-year wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, No. 13.

Before the Broncos: Dorsett (5-10, 192 pounds) entered the league as a speedy first-round pick out of Miami with the Indianapolis Colts in 2015. He spent two years with the Colts, totaling 51 receptions for 753 yards and three touchdowns.

Indianapolis traded Dorsett to the New England Patriots in 2017 in exchange for quarterback Jacoby Brissett. He went on to record 73 receptions 881 yards and eight touchdowns in three years with the Patriots.

Dorsett signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 but ended up missing that entire season with a foot injury. He then bounced between the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seahawks and Houston Texans in 2021.

Dorsett totaled 20 receptions for 257 yards and one touchdown with the Texans in 2022. He then went to training camp with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 but failed to make their 53-man roster.

Broncos tenure: Denver signed Dorsett to their practice squad after setting their 53-man roster last summer. He was elevated to the game-day roster twice last fall.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot. The Broncos have a crowded wide receiver depth chart, so Dorsett’s best chance of sticking around in 2024 will likely be on the practice squad.
