Broncos cornerback A.J. Bouye (shoulder) isn’t the only Denver player expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay (turf toe) could also miss multiple games. Lindsay is still getting a second opinion but fans shouldn’t be surprised if the running back misses several weeks, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Given the kind of injury he has and the position he plays, Lindsay might be out “past a week or two,” according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. If the Broncos think Lindsay is in danger of missing three games, Denver might place him on injured reserve (players can return from IR after three weeks).
If there’s a chance that Lindsay might only miss one or two games, he will likely stay on the active roster. Melvin Gordon will become the Broncos’ workhorse back while Lindsay is sidelined and Royce Freeman will be promoted to RB2 duties.
Denver will likely consider calling up LeVante Bellamy from the practice squad to serve as the third-string running back while Lindsay is sidelined.
