Following a 31-21 loss to the New York Jets, the Denver Broncos are now 1-4 under new head coach Sean Payton. That poor record has left the team ranked 28th in Nate Davis’ latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports.
Believe it or not, that’s actually up one spot from the team’s No. 29 overall ranking last week. Here’s is Davis’ commentary on Denver after Week 5:
Naturally, when you crown yourselves with dopey “snowcapped” helmets, another Rocky Mountain meltdown is completely inevitable.
Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked No. 4, the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked No. 20 and the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked No. 23. The Broncos remain the lowest-ranked team in the division.
Denver will face the Chiefs in Kansas City on Thursday.
The Carolina Panthers are ranked No. 32 (last) and the San Francisco 49ers are ranked No. 1. To view the complete NFL power rankings going into Week 6, visit USATODAY.com.
