Broncos’ lopsided win over Rams was historic

The Denver Broncos made history in their 41-0 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.

The Denver Broncos’ 41-0 win over the Los Angeles Rams was a historic one for the team, and for one player individually.

1: The Broncos’ 41-0 win was the franchise’s 10th shutout all-time, and first since 2016 (a 22-0 win over the Chicago Bears).

2: The 41-point victory was the second-largest margin of victory in franchise history. The largest margin of victory came against the Seattle Seahawks in 1976, a 52-7 win.

3: In preseason NFL history, it has been nearly 20 years since a team won in such convincing fashion. The most recent was in 2008 was when the Carolina Panthers beat Washington 47-3, and the most lopsided shutout since the New England Patriots beat Washington 41-0 in 2006.

4: The game was also historic for Jaleel McLaughlin. When he scored a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter, it marked his fourth score in the preseason (three rushing, one receiving). His four touchdowns marked the most scores by a Bronco in a single preseason since 1999.

Hopefully this level of success transfers to the 2023 regular season, when the Broncos look to record their first winning season since the Super Bowl 50-winning team.
