Britton Wilson named finalist for Bowerman Award

Britton Wilson becomes the third women’s finalist for the Bowerman award.

On Monday, the USTFCCCA announced the finalists for The Bowerman, and Arkansas junior Britton Wilson is among the three women who made the cut.

Wilson is the third female Razorback athlete to be named a finalist for this prestigious award.

Since its inception in 2009, this prestigious award has recognized the top male and female NCAA track and field athletes in the country presented by the USTFCCCA .

This year, the female finalists include Julien Alfred, a remarkable sprinter from Texas, and Jasmine Moore, an impressive jumper representing Florida.

“Britton, we knew, had a strong case to be a finalist,” said Arkansas women’s track and field coach, Lance Harter. “It’s so rewarding that she has been selected and will be honored in December at the convention. It’s not only a great tribute to Britton, herself, but also to our women’s track program and the University as a whole.”

Wilson had a remarkable year, setting a new American 400m record indoors. She ran the fastest split ever indoors in a world-best 4 x 400m relay, and broke five collegiate records in the 400m and 600m events indoors. Additionally, Wilson broke three records in the 400m outdoor races.

She joins former Arkansas athletes as finalist pole vaulter Tina Šutej (2011) and sprinter/hurdler Janeek Brown (2019). Both women won in their respective years.
