Brissett, most Browns starters to play Saturday night

Fans will get the first chance to see Brissett play in a game in a Browns uniform. Not every starter will play for sure:

The Cleveland Browns have treated the first two preseason games as most teams used to treat the preseason finale when there were four games. A few starters got snaps against the Jacksonville Jaguars but the game against the Philadelphia Eagles was used to get a good look at young players and backups.

The Chicago Bears have already announced that Justin Fields and their starters will play a good portion of Saturday night’s matchup in Cleveland. After last year’s game between the two teams, Fields may have nightmares of facing DE Myles Garrett again.

Thursday, Browns HC Kevin Stefanski announced that QB Jacoby Brissett will get his first preseason action with the team along with most of the team’s starters:

Right tackle Jack Conklin, returning from a knee injury last year, will not play on Saturday. Stefanski noted that some players could be held out of the game still.

While keeping players safe has been a high priority in Cleveland, it has to be balanced with making sure players are prepared for the start of the season. With two weeks between the end of preseason and Week 1 in Carolina, key starters may need to knock a little game-day rust off against Chicago.
