The Shonda Rhimes-produced Bridgerton series took the world by storm when it premiered last Christmas, quickly becoming Netflix’s most-watched series ever with 82 million households watching globally within its first 28 days.
With production underway for Bridgerton‘s second season, Netflix has already renewed its hit series for Season 3 and 4. Those two seasons will likely follow the third and fourth books in Julia Quinn’s series of the same name.
“From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience,” Rhimes said in a statement. “But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy [Beers] and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”
For those fans that haven’t read Quinn’s books — which you should totally do to pass the time between now and the second season premiere — I’ve got you covered for what you can expect from the upcoming second season and already-green-lit third and fourth seasons.
But first, a recap.
