The Philadelphia 76ers are going to need all hands on deck when they get set to take on the Boston Celtics on Monday to begin the 2020 NBA Playoffs. Specifically, they will need somebody out on the perimeter defensively to step up against Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and others.
So, why not turn to the rookie?
Coach Brett Brown has already said that Thybulle will play a massive role in this upcoming series, but what about him as a starter? Brown says all options are on the table.
“We’re talking a lot about doing different things,” Brown said. “It is being considered.”
Thybulle is a big defensive option for Philadelphia and they believe in his ability to step up in these situations. This is a sign that the team has a lot of faith and confidence in him.
“For me, it’s exciting,” said Thybulle. “I think that means that I’ve earned a certain level of trust from my teammates and the coaching staff. As everyone hyped up the playoffs if they trust me enough in the playoffs to do my job and my role and what I’ve been trying to prove for this whole season is exciting because I think my work’s paid off and it’s time to showcase everything that we’ve been preparing for.”
Whether the Sixers do make another major change to their starting lineup remains to be seen, but even if this is a move that they do make, there is no guarantee that it works out the way they envision. Boston is a team that has a ton of chemistry and it will take a lot of help from everybody to get it done. [lawrence-related id=36859,36838,36834]
