Today has already been a whirlwind of Big Ten football news, with Indiana star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. having a torn ACL, the Minnesota–Northwestern game being canceled due to COVID-19 cases within the Minnesota football program and now this.

According to a 247Sports report, 2021 four-star outside linebacker Jake Ratzlaff has committed to play for Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise, as Ratzlaff hadn’t set today as his commitment date and was flying under the radar compared to some of the Badgers’ other targets in the class.

After 247Sports crystal ball projections saw him signing with the Badgers, Ratzlaff now joins the program’s loaded class of 2021 that sits at No. 16 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten.

“Wisconsin is unbelievable,” Ratzlaff told Evan Flood of Badger247. “I love all the coaches. The stadium is unbelievable, the team is unreal. I’ve always loved Wisconsin. I got recruited by them in hockey too. Their campus is great. I have nothing bad to say about them. All-around, they are great.”

The outside linebacker is the No. 663 player in the class of 2021, the No. 24 outside linebacker and the No. 5 player from the state of Minnesota.

He also had offers from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Iowa State and others.
