Tampa Bay is getting another quarterback.
In wake of numerous reports over the past two days, quarterback [autotag]Baker Mayfield[/autotag] is officially signing with the Buccaneers, Tom Pelissero reports. The deal is for one year and worth 8.5 million dollars.
A former No.1-overall pick in Cleveland, Mayfield spent last season with two different teams. His first stint in 2022 came with the Carolina Panthers, where his performance was among the league’s worst at the position — he threw six touchdowns and six interceptions and completed just over 57% of his passes. His time in Los Angeles was a bit better, throwing four touchdowns and two picks in five games and completing 63% of his passes.
Mayfield will be a veteran presence for the Bucs who will compete with quarterback Kyle Trask for the team’s starting job. Tampa Bay will hope the talent that made Mayfield the No. 1-overall pick in 2018 will show out once again when he puts on a Bucs uniform.
