Alabama wing transfer Nimari Burnett is transferring to Michigan, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The Illinois native played in one season with the Crimson Tide.
The news is somewhat surprising considering the fact that Burnett entered the transfer portal just two days ago. However, the landscape of college basketball is constantly changing and Burnett will be on his way to Ann Arbor.
Burnett was a key player off of Alabama’s bench this past season. He suffered an injury early on in the season but was able to make positive contributions during conference play.
Altogether, Burnett averaged 5.6 points per game while shooting 36.8% from the field.
The thing that Alabama will likely miss the most about Burnett is his defensive presence. He created a lot of mismatches on that end of the floor given his sheer size and length.
Alabama is bringing in two wings for next season in Davin Cosby and Kris Parker. That should definitely help Alabama’s backcourt heading into next season.
