Brandon McManus: ‘No chance’ Broncos agree to same-day flights for East Coast games

Broncos kicker Brandon McManus says players won’t agree to same-day flights for East Coast games during the season.

As the NFL continues to explore ways to limit the spread of COVID-19 and still have a 2020 season, some teams are apparently considering flying on game days and cutting out hotel stays for road games.

“Multiple teams intend to fly to and from road games on the day of the game,” Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reported on Tuesday.

Broncos kicker Brandon McManus, the team’s NFLPA rep, tweeted Tuesday that there’s “no chance” players would agree to same-day flights for games on the East Coast.

“No chance on East Coast games,” McManus tweeted on Tuesday. “Health and safety issue for injuries. You may lower risk of contracting Covid-19 but you increase injury risk.”

Former Denver offensive lineman Max Garcia agreed with McManus, tweeting that players would be as “stiff as boards.”

The Broncos are scheduled to play five games on the East Coast this season — against the Steelers (Week 2), Jets (Week 4), Patriots (Week 5), Falcons (Week 9) and Panthers (Week 14). View the complete schedule here.
